Madu River Boat Safari
A slow boat through mangrove channels near Balapitiya, with stops at a cinnamon-processing island and a small Buddhist temple islet. Watch for kingfishers and water monitors along the way.
White Water Rafting
Grade 2–3 rapids on the Kelani River at Kitulgala, the same stretch of river used in the filming of The Bridge on the River Kwai. Beginner-friendly with full safety gear and an experienced crew.
Hot Air Balloon Ride
A sunrise flight over the Dambulla and Kandalama countryside, drifting above lakes, forest, and farmland as the Cultural Triangle wakes up below. Seasonal, typically February to April.
Sri Lankan Village Tour
A morning in rural Sri Lanka — a bullock cart ride, a catamaran paddle across a village lake, and a home-cooked lunch with a local family, usually paired with a Sigiriya or Habarana stay.
Kandyan Cultural Dance Show
An evening performance of traditional Kandyan drumming and dance, including fire-walking and acrobatic routines passed down through generations of performers.
Tea Factory & Plantation Tour
Walk through a working tea estate, see the leaves picked and processed by hand, and finish with a tasting of fresh Ceylon tea overlooking the plantation.
Scenic Hill Country Train Ride
One of the world's great train journeys — Kandy to Ella (or a shorter stretch) through terraced tea hills, tunnels, and misty valleys, with the doors open for the view.
Stilt Fishermen Experience
Watch, photograph, and try your hand at Sri Lanka's iconic stilt fishing tradition on the south coast, with a local fisherman guiding you through the balance and technique.
Sri Lankan Cookery Lesson
Learn to cook a full rice-and-curry spread from scratch, from grinding spices to making coconut sambol, in a home kitchen with a local host — then sit down to eat what you made.
Ayurveda Spa & Wellness
A traditional Ayurvedic treatment or massage at a reputable spa, following practices rooted in Sri Lanka's centuries-old system of herbal medicine.
Wildlife Jeep Safari
A morning or afternoon game drive in one of Sri Lanka's national parks — leopards and elephants in the dry zone, or elephant gatherings further north, led by an experienced tracker.
Hiking & Trekking
From the sunrise climb up Sigiriya Rock to a highland walk to World's End at Horton Plains, or a stretch of the 300km Pekoe Trail through tea country.
Whale & Dolphin Watching
A boat excursion off Mirissa in search of blue whales, resident sperm whales, and large pods of spinner dolphins, best from November to April.
Sea Turtle Hatchery Visit
Visit a coastal turtle hatchery to learn about conservation work and, when timed right, watch newly hatched turtles released into the sea.
